Nathaniel (Pete Jr.) Jones
Nathaniel (Pete Jr.) Jones, the son of the late Nathaniel Sr. and Ella Jones was born in Jesup on Aug. 28, 1931 and died Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at Appling Nursing and Rehabilitation Pavilion in Baxley. He was a member of Surrency Grove Baptist Church. In addition to his parents his wife, Annie Ruth Jones, his daughter, Mary E. Jordan, brothers, Joe Louis and Robert Jones and a sister, Almeda Hayes, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include one daughter, Oreatha Williams of Waycross; two sons, Glenn (Trayce) Jones and Eddie (June) Jones of Port St. Lucie, Florida; five sisters, Leila Bell Wilcox, Equilla Jones, Gwen Bradley, Marcia Jones and Cynthia Petway; four brothers, Bobby (Jackie), Jack (Gloristine), Harriel (Hazel) and Charles Jones of Surrency; four uncles, two aunts, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law of Georgia and Stuart, FL; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 25 at Surrency Grove Baptist Church with Minister Lillie Burkett officiating. The Rev. Daniel Smith gave eulogy. Interment followed in Rachel Baptist Church Cemetery in Baxley.
Active pallbearers were friends of the family.
Honorary pallbearers were deacons of Surrency Grove Baptist Church, Daphine Ingerville, Angleo and Pauline Mobley and Shawn Mobley.
Surrency Grove Baptist Church Choir rendered musical selections.
Arrangements were under the direction of Baxley Funeral Home.
