Tri- County CASA will be sponsoring their annual “Light of Hope” Event, Thursday, April 14, at the Baxley City Hall Conference Room at 7:00 p.m. The “Light of Hope” event aims to increase awareness of dependent (neglected or abused) children’s plight and to invite new volunteers and supporters to our ranks. These events help demonstrate how everyone’s efforts bring hope to all children.
He may be the Boy Scout leader in your community or your son’s baseball coach. She may be your daughter’s swim coach or her Sunday School teacher. They are each a “Light of Hope” in our tri-county area. She’s the teacher who takes the time to extend a compliment, an encouraging word, or a high five to a withdrawn child. While winning a game is great, his real goal is to build self-confidence and a sense of accomplishment in a child who might not receive it at home.
He may be the school counselor who knows that a happy face sticker that says “great job” will be just the thing to celebrate a perfect spelling test score. She goes out of her way to mentor the struggling high school student every week. He shows interest in a young child’s life smiling about the lost puppy story he’s heard a dozen times already.
These “making a difference” adults are a “Light of Hope” for children who may be living in chaos and turmoil or who may be experiencing abuse or neglect at home. They are the bright spots in a child’s life – the ones who listen, who care, who encourage.
Tri-County CASA believes that they are blessed to have many “Lights of Hope” in our communities. Please help them honor them at their annual “Light of Hope” Award Ceremony on April 14. Nominations will be accepted in the following categories:
