Earl and Fannie Mae McDaniel celebrated their anniversary of 61 years on January 15. They both retired from their vocations in 1995. Earl was in construction and worked as a journeyman ironworker out of Savannah Local 709 for 40 years. During his last job, he worked at the Savannah River Plant as superintendent of the ironworker’s construction.
Fannie Mae was employed with the Appling County Board of Education in administration. Fannie had the privilege to work with the following superintendents, Lorace McCall, Joe Pritchard, J.M. Vaughn, H.F. Johnson, James Twiggs, Janette Williams and Ray Sellers. She said it was very sad to say, but they had all passed away except Mr. Twiggs.
The couple has four children, Dr. Cathy Campbell, Angela Morris, Dawn Kalish and Chadwick McDaniel. All three daughters are employed in education and their son is employed in construction. They have seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The McDaniels are members of Ten Mile Baptist Church and statesthat God has been good to them. They both love Appling County and the people here.
