Sheriff Benny Deloach reports the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Office over the past few days.
On January 1, deputies answered a call to Nails Ferry Road in reference to a fight, which led to the arrest of Margaret Elizabeth Watford, 31, of Alma, and Matthew Bart Todd, 32, of Baxley. Both were charged with affray.
Jan. 1, answered a call to Satilla Church Road in reference to a house fire. Red Oak Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.
Jan. 1, answered a call to Wisteria Lane in reference to a domestic that led to the arrest of Angela Marie Lang, 31, of Baxley. Lang was charged with disorderly conduct.
Jan. 1, answered a call to Brenda Kaye Yawn Road in reference to damage to property. The complainant stated the renter of her mobile home busted the blocks from under the mobile home causing it almost to fall and also found that the water pump had been taken. The complainant was advised of legal action that could be taken.
Jan. 2, answered a call to Jake Moody Road in reference to unresponsive subject. Michael Anthony Beasley, 59, of Baxley, was found deceased. The Appling County Coroner was notified.
Jan. 2, answered a call to Old Surrency Road/Surrency in reference to a theft. The complainant stated someone stole a table saw, chop saw, air compressor and tool box from his shelter. Items take were valued at approximately $800.00. Investigation continues.
Jan. 3, a routine traffic stop on County Farm Road led to the arrest of Jhirmack Amerze Johnson, 31, of Nicholls, was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce, and DUI drugs/alcohol.
Jan. 3, answered a call to Cain Road in reference to a subject making suicidal threats. The subject was transported to Appling ER for treatment.
Jan. 3, answered a call to Buckhead Road in reference to shots fired. The complainant stated two male subjects pulled into the field beside her house and fired their rifles five or six times. She stated she found several bullet holes in a storage trailer.
Jan. 4, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to a fight. The complainant stated two subjects at her residence were fighting. One of the subjects left the residence before officers arrived.
Jan. 4, answered a call to Blueberry Avenue in reference to a theft of a check, which led to the arrest of Melissa Burton, 37, of Baxley. Burton was charged with theft by taking.
Jan. 4, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated someone had stolen his 25 h.p. Mariner motor and controls from his boat. The value of items taken was approximately $1,800.00. Information regarding the boat was entered into GCIC as stolen. Investigation continues.
