According to Sheriff Benny Deloach on December 19 Appling County Deputies answered a call to Aldrich Road in reference to shots fired/night hunting. The complainant heard shots fired at night and followed the subjects until officers arrived at which time the responding officer performed a traffic stop on the suspected vehicle, securing two guns, spotlights as well as shells and cartridges. A Georgia DNR Ranger was notified and Jack Madray, 21, Shane Owen Madray, 18, Sean Gregory Chapman, 24, Jessica Arroyave,18, all of Jesup, and Matthew Ryan Skeels, 21, of St. George, were all given citations for hunting from the roadway, hunting from a vehicle and hunting at night.
Child molestation charge
On Dec. 21, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report alleged child molestation. Investigation led to the arrest of Buford Eugene Ellis, 57, of Baxley. Ellis is charged with aggravated child molestation.
Other incidents
Dec. 18, answered a call to a local pawnshop in reference to a dispute. The complainant stated he pawned a 24” flat screen TV and when he came to get it back, he stated it was not his TV. Serial numbers were checked on original transaction and the serial numbers on the TV both matched. The complainant took the TV.
Dec. 18, answered a call to Blackshear Hwy. in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated someone had gained entry into his residence through a window at the rear of his house. The complainant stated he is missing a HP Laptop 2000 computer, RCA 7 Voyager tablet, a video camera, a small TV, a LG Smartphone, a blue tote bag, complainant’s license, green card, social security card and a Wal-Mart gift card. Investigation continues.
Dec. 18, answered a call to Altamaha Baptist Church in reference to an unruly subject. The complainant stated an unruly subject had slapped her in the face and made threats. Family members stated the subject is bi-polar. The subject had left the scene before officers arrived. All parties involved were advised of legal action they could take.
Dec. 18, answered a call to Collins Lane in reference to harassment. The complainant stated she recently purchased a new phone and tablet, and a subject is cyber stalking her. The complainant named a possible suspect. Investigation continues.
Dec. 18, answered a call to Poor Robin Road in reference to a theft. The complainant stated a family member had taken several pieces of jewelry valued at approximately $460.00. Investigation continues.
