The City of Baxley and Baxley-Appling County Chamber of Commerce hosted the fifth annual Christmas in the Park on Dec. 2. The event was moved indoors to the Appling County Courthouse Annex Building, due to weather, instead of being held at Water Works Park. The event was well attended and Mayor Steve Rigdon welcomed everyone in attendance.
Phil Warren of Frist Baptist led the audience in singing O Come, O Come Emmanuel following Mayor Rigdon’s welcome. Other guest singers included Amber Anderson of Baxley Church of God, Cathryn Holzschuher of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Station No. 7 Band.
Scripture readers and speakers included Mary Ann Ellis of First Baptist Church, Emma Westberry of St. Thomas Equinas’ Episcopal Church, Cristen Floyd of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church and Santina Fryer of Celebration Church.
The Rev. Steve Meguiar of First United Methodist brought the closing message encouraging the audience to remember that Jesus is the true meaning of Christmas.
