It is with great sadness that the family of Robert Earl Moody announced that he passed with dignity and peace on November 24, 2015.
He was surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by two sons, Robert Holton Moody of Chapel Hill NC and Nathan Brian Moody of Columbia SC along with one grandson with whom he had great pride, Ethan Francisco Moody. His siblings include Dr. John Milton Moody of Vidalia and Judy Moody Mabey of Hazlehurst.
He is also mourned by Cameo McLendon of Hazlehurst, a long time friend and caretaker.
Robert E. Moody, also known as “Bo” to close friends, was born on January 18, 1945 to Georgia Lou Moody and J.W. Moody of Hazlehurst. Mr. Moody was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School and the University of Georgia. Cheering Georgia Football was a passion he enjoyed his entire life. While at UGA he served in the United States Marine Corps.
Married to his first wife, Evelyn Holton Moody of Camilla, they lived in West Palm Beach, FL where he was employed at Earnest and Young as a CPA and later at Lantana Boatyard a defense ship building firm where he served as vice president.
Shortly after moving back to Hazlehurst he married the love of his life, Gail Rogers Moody, in 1993. She preceded him in death in 2013
He ended his career in Baxley, where he retired as a CPA.
Robert E. Moody was well known for telling a good story as most fisherman are. He was a history and civil war buff.
Mr. Moody will be laid to eternal rest next his wife of 20 years in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
The Funeral Service was held on Friday, November 27.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the American Cancer Society or military service member charity of your choice.
Robert Earl Moody was 70 years old.
