Sheriff Benny Deloach reports the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Office over the past few days.
October 30, answered a call to Lake Mayers Road in reference to criminal damage to property, which led to the arrest of Kevin Haselden, 27, of Alma. Haselden was charged with criminal damage to property.
Oct. 30, answered a call to Red Dot Road in reference to an attempted suicide/overdose. A complainant stated her 22-year-old female friend was found on the floor passed out. Appling EMS arrived and transported subject to Appling ER for medical and mental evaluation.
Oct. 31, answered a call to Russell Road in reference to a public intoxicated subject in the roadway, which led to the arrest of Richard T. Hobby, 50, of Baxley. Hobby was charged with possession of methamphetamine, public drunkenness, crossing guard lines with drugs and possession of marijuana.
Oct. 31, answered a call to Central Street in reference to trespassing. The complainant stated her neighbor was looking in the window of her residence stating he was looking for his wife and made threats towards her. The complainant was advised what action she could take.
November 1, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to suicide threats. A complainant stated a 25-year-old male subject had made threats to harm himself. The subject was found asleep in his residence.
Nov. 1, answered a call to Lamar Crosby Road in reference to harassing phone calls. The complainant stated an unknown male keeps calling her and making sexual remarks. The deputy called the number and talked with the subject and advised him of the consequences if he continued to make these calls.
Nov. 1, answered a call to Falling Rocks Campground in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated he found someone had broken into his camper, stole his LCD T.V. and two guns. The value of items taken is approximately $1,600.00. Investigation continues.
Nov. 2, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft that occurred on Ben Carter Road. The complainant stated someone had stolen his 20 h.p. Yamaha pull start boat motor and foot control trolling motor from his aluminum boat. Investigation continues.
Nov. 2, answered a call to Nail Head Drive in reference to a domestic. The husband changed the locks to the house and would not allow his wife into the residence. The wife stated the husband had mental issues. Both were advised that if officers came back to the residence both could possibly be arrested for disorderly conduct.
Nov. 2, answered a call to Holt Rentz Road in reference to a domestic/civil matter. The complainant and family members had a verbal dispute. Complainant was advised of legal actions that could be taken.
Nov. 2, answered a call to Gardner Road in reference to damage to property. A 2000 Chevy Silverado was found abandon that had been wrecked. The owner of the vehicle stated the vehicle had been stolen. Vehicle was towed and will be held until a driver is found. A cement pillar was damaged and investigation continues.
Nov. 2, answered a call to Altamaha School in reference to a family domestic, which led to the arrest of Derrick Richard Overstreet, 37, of Baxley. Overstsreet was charged with simple battery, battery and cruelty to children.
