Appling County School District was extremely excited about State School Superintendent Richard Woods visit on Monday, September 21. He was greeted by Junior Statesman, Class Officers, Central Office and school staff at ACHS. Following the welcome, lunch and a roundtable discussion took place at the Fine Arts Center.
During the roundtable discussion, Superintendent Woods was seeking input on items that were working versus not working in Appling County Schools. This was a wonderful conversation between the students, leadership staff, and Dr. Woods. All of the ideas sought will be taken back to the State Department of Education according to Dr. Woods.
Superintendent Dr. Scarlett M. Copeland expressed sincere appreciation for the State School Superintendent’s visit to the district to seek input and information regarding education. Dr. Woods was informed Appling County would be happy to host additional meetings in the future regarding education.
Copeland would also like to thank the School Food Services Department and their Director Ellen Carter who so graciously prepared the lunch meal for this meeting. The school district would also like to thank Dr. Starr for accommodating them at ACHS for the meeting. They again look forward to more meetings regarding educational topics with our State School Superintendent.
