On July 23, 2015 God unveiled his master plan and called Albert Lee James to his final resting place. Many of us do not understand “why?” Yet we must say, “Father not my will, but thy will be done.”
Albert was born July 17, 1944 to the late Willie Lee and Sarah Lee James. He was educated in the Appling County School System. Albert was a dedicated employee for several years at ITT Rayonier. He was a member of the 2nd Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. He was united in holy matrimony in 1964 to Ruby Dell Smith and to this union three sons were born.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, his mother-in-law, Pearl Smith; father-in-law, Buster Smith and brothers-in-law, Lester and Alonzo Smith.
Loving memories of Albert will be cherished by his: loving wife, Ruby Dell James of Surrency; sons, Nelson Henry James of Tallahassee, FL, Melvin David James (Donna) of Nashville, TN and Donnie Leroy James of Covington; grandchildren, Nelson Albert James, Jr., Donovan Lee James, Ricky Dunn, Candice Dunn, Brandi James and Dinah Karen James; brothers, Willie Lee James, Jr. (Lina) of Englewood, CA, Alfred H. James (Rose) of Jesup, Charles E. James (Diane) of Columbia, SC, Royce L. James (Songie) of Macon and Harry L. James (Joyce) of Albany; sisters, Mary Nell Alderman (Henry) of Baxley, Mable Adline Oglesby (Gus) of Fort Valley and Geneva Sumner of Baxley; aunt, Lucille Coleman of Surrency; brothers-in-law, James E. Smith (Teresa) of Miami, FL, Moultrie Smith of Green Cove Springs, FL, Eugene Smith (Devora) of Baxley and Stuart Smith (Martha) of Hazlehurst; sisters-in-law, Maggie Colson of Green Cove Springs, FL, Ida Jones and Janice Norwood (James) both of Baxley; special friend, Carol Roberson of Griffin; godson, Keaton Nelson of Surrency and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A celebration of life service for Albert Lee James was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 29 at St. Paul Church of God in Christ. The Rev. Elijah Jones gave the eulogy and Prophetess Lisa Stevens presided. Burial was held in Surrency Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jarvis Clark, Nakia “Pete” Sumner, Larry Burkes, Mike Gibbs, Lothair White and Kenneth Alderman.
Musical selections were rendered by Nakia “Pete” Sumner, Kathy Gibbs and Peggy Fletcher.
Honorary pallbearers were nephews.
