Hilda L. Hayward, 76, of Swainsboro, died Sunday, June 12, 2011 in the East Georgia Regional Medical Center following an extended illness.
Mrs. Hayward was born in Baxley, but lived most her life in Emanuel County. She was preceded in death by her parents, Warren and Katie Mae Crosby Courson; brothers, Warren Courson, Jr., Jimmy B. Courson, Harold Courson; sisters, Audrey Branch, Maggie Lou Dyal and Odell Dyal.
Mrs. Hayward was a homemaker. She loved cooking and taking care of her family. She was known for her awesome lemon pies and fried chicken. Mrs. Hayward was a member of Southside Baptist Church for 25 years.
Survivors include her husband of 49 years, Barney Hayward, Sr. of Swainsboro; daughters, Deborah (Richard) Fountain of Twin City, Glenda (Harold) Coleman of Midville; son, Barney (Tammie) Hayward, Jr. of Martinez; sister, Mary Lee (A. C.) Taylor of Savannah; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Services were held in the chapel of Chapman Funeral Home at 11 o’clock Wednesday morning, June 15, with Elder Tommy Rountree and the Rev. Phil Wilson officiating. Burial was in Eastbrook Cemetery, Swainsboro.

Pallbearers were Mark Wilkins, Mitchell Taylor, Tommy Courson, David Earl Courson, Earnest Dyle and Albert Dyle.
