Parents and students should be aware that free, nutritious meals for students are available all summer at locations across Georgia.
The meals are available to all children and teens aged 18 or younger. Many locations offer both breakfast and lunch. The Baxley location is at The Boy’s and Girl’s Club, located at 252 West Parker Street. Breakfast and lunch are served with the breakfast time being from 8:30-9:00 a.m. and lunchtime is from 12:00-12:30 p.m. You can contact The Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Baxley at 912-705-2680.
“Often, students rely on the meals they’re served during the school day – then summer begins, and those meals are gone,” State School Superintendent Richard Woods said. “It’s unacceptable to us for any child to go hungry. These locations are a great resource for parents and students – and they do more than provide food. They’re helping students grow, physically and academically.”
