Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
May 8, a routine traffic stop on Lennox Road led to a juvenile being apprehended. A juvenile was charged with VGCSA/marijuana and driving while unlicensed. The Department of Juvenile Justice was notified and juvenile was turned over to them.
May 9, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to an unresponsive subject. The Appling EMS responded and found Dewitt Allagood, 69, of Baxley, unresponsive. The Appling Co. Coroner was notified and stated Allagood died of natural causes.
May 9, answered a call to Graham/Zoar Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated she found her front door had been pried open. Taken was her son’s piggy bank with approximately $80.00in US currency. A possible suspect was named. Investigation continues.
May 10, answered a call to Oak Dale Motel in reference to a domestic dispute. A father and a son had a verbal dispute, which led to an altercation. The son had left the scene before officer arrived. The father stated he did not want to press charges.
May 11, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a house fire. The owner of the home stated he found his house on fire. No one was home at the time the fire started. The Baxley Fire Department responded.
May 11, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a domestic dispute, which led to the arrest of Laquinta Britney Nails, 25, of Baxley. Nails was charged with simple battery.
May 11, answered a call to Cattle Gap Lane in reference to entering an automobile. The complainant stated someone had stolen his wallet that was inside of his vehicle that was parked at his residence.
May 12, Answered a call to Oscar Tippins Road in reference to a domestic dispute. The victim stated she and the father of her children had a verbal dispute that led to an altercation. The victim and children left the residence. The victim was advised of legal action that could be taken.
May 12, answered a call to Hatch Parkway South in reference to a theft. The complainant stated he received a call stating his work truck, and trailer with a skid-steer Bobcat loader was bogged down at a residence on Memphis Crosby Road. Investigation continues.
May 14, answered a call to US #1 North in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated person(s) gained entry to her residence by busting out a windowpane in the front door. $600.00 in US currency was taken from the residence. A possible suspect was named and investigation continues.
May 14, answered a call to Appling Health Care ER in reference to a dog bite victim. The ER staff stated family members brought in a nine-year-old juvenile that had been bitten by their family pet. The juvenile was treated and released.
May 14, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to an identity theft. A local automobile dealership employee stated a subject contacted him from Washington, D.C. wanting to purchase a 2015 vehicle. The subject gave all personal information and credit was approved, paper work overnighted and returned. The vehicle was sent to subject by a brokerage company. Employee received a call from subject that was named same as subject that the vehicle was sent to, and stated he did not purchase a vehicle. Investigation continues.
May 15, answered a call to wooded area off of Oscar Tippins Road in reference to a four-wheeler accident. The Appling Co. Coroner was called to the scene and pronounced Terry Edwin Carver, 69, of Brunswick, DOA.
