The Boys & Girls Club of Appling County recently received a recognition plaque from the Boys & Girls Club of the Middle Georgia Region. Cindy Arnold, Chief Professional Officer, presented the plaque at a recent Appling Board of Directors meeting. The directors and staff were recognized for being the first board in the region to achieve 100 percent board participation in the “It Just Takes One” (IJTO) annual campaign.
CPO Arnold, in recognizing the group said, “The Appling County Board of Directors and Staff have set the bar high for the entire Middle Georgia Region. This exceptional achievement can be attributed to great leadership and incredibly committed board members and staff. Citizens should be very proud of their work on behalf of the youth of Appling County.
This also was the first time in the history of the Boys & Girls Club of Appling County that all Board members made a personal contribution to the club during the IJTO. Appling Unit Board Chairman Ronald Burkett thanked all the directors for not only making a personal contribution but for also asking for donations from the local community. “I am so pleased, that even in the hard economic times we are in, that so many individuals and organizations stepped up to the plate to make generous donations to the club,” said Burkett.
As a national organization, the club offers a wide-variety of programs and services for the youth of Appling County. The club focuses on Education/Careers, Leadership Skills/Character Building, Health and Life Skills, Arts and Sports/Recreation and many other specialized programs.
The Boys & Girls Club of Appling County is one of five local Boys & Girls Clubs, which comprise the overall organization known as The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Middle Georgia Region.
