Sheriff Benny Deloach reports the following incidents handled by deputies with the Appling County Sheriff’s Department.
On January 14, answered a call to Blackshear Highway in reference to a school bus fight. The mother of the juvenile stated her son had been assaulted on the school bus. The board of education is aware of the incident.

Jan. 14, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to a gas drive off. The clerk of the convenience store stated the subject pumped gas and left without paying. The vehicle was not located at time of report.
Jan. 14, a routine traffic stop on Highway 341 East resulted in the arrest of Donald W. Murray, age 25, of Surrency, and Cameron Murray, age 20, of Baxley. Donald W. Murray was charged with driving without headlights, open container and possession of marijuana less than one ounce. Cameron Murray was charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
Jan. 14, answered a call to Varnadore Lane in reference to a theft. The complainant stated taken from his residence was his wallet, which had his license, union cards and $145.00 in currency. At a later date complainant’s wallet was found near his residence with no currency inside. Investigation continues.
Jan. 14, answered a call to Forest Avenue in reference to a theft of a vehicle. The complainant stated her vehicle was missing and she did not give anyone permission to take her vehicle. The vehicle was entered in GCIC and was located in Lakeland, Florida. Misty Chouinard and Jeffery Cole were taken into custody, and warrants were secured on both subjects for theft of motor vehicle.
Jan. 14, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North lot one in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) entered her residence and took a Sony Playstation 2 Game Box and game valued at $200.00 Investigation continues.
Jan. 15, answered a call to Dogwood Lane in reference to damage to property. A complainant stated her daughter’s boyfriend broke the screen door on back porch and other items inside of the residence.
Jan. 15, answered a call to Powerline Road in reference to a house fire. A complainant stated he and his son were outside working, when his son saw smoke coming from the house. The Altamaha Volunteer Fire Department responded and put the fire out. Upon arrival, residence was burnt in the laundry room and also a lot of roof damage was noted.
Jan. 15, answered a call to Lee Woods Road in reference to a shot dog. The complainant stated unknown person(s) had shot her dog several times.
Jan. 15, answered a call to U.S. Highway 1 north in reference to hay on fire. A defective wheel bearing on trailer caused hay on trailer to catch on fire. The fire department arrived and put the fire out.
Jan. 15, answered a call to Dick Griffin Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated her washing machine on her back porch was stolen. Investigation continues.
Jan. 16, answered a call to U.S. Highway 1 north in reference to a juvenile problem. A mother and son were having a dispute on the side of the road. The juvenile was transported to Appling County Sheriff’s Office where the juvenile was later returned to mother.
Jan. 16, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report harassment. The complainant stated a subject has been harassing and calling her at all times.
Jan. 16, a routine traffic stop on U.S. Highway 1 North resulted in the arrest of August Denise Bell, age 30, of Brunswick. Bell was charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce and possession of drug related object.
Jan. 16, answered a call to Golden Isles West in reference to a domestic dispute. A husband and wife had a verbal dispute. The husband agreed to leave the residence for a while.
Jan. 17, answered a call to Satilla Church Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant found door to the residence taken off threshold (Nothing appeared to be broken or missing).
Jan. 17, answered a call to Henry Thomas Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from the back of his work truck were two chain saws, a pole saw and also missing from inside the truck was a pistol. Investigation continues.
Jan. 18, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a lost tag. The complainant stated while moving from Jesup to Baxley her tag fell off of her vehicle.
Jan. 18, answered a call to Zoar Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated three wheelers, go cart, lawn mowers, deep well pump, air compressors and several other items were taken from his residence. Investigation continues.
Jan. 18, a routine traffic stop on Lennox / Ben Carter Road resulted in the arrest of Delaney Jo Dobson, age 30, of Baxley. Dobson was charged with possession of marijuana less than one ounce.
Jan. 19, answered a call to Satilla Church Road in reference to a theft. Unknown person(s) stole an antique cane sweep valued at $500.00 from an old home place. Investigation continues.
Jan. 20, Answered a call to Midway Church Road in reference to a theft. The complainant took his vehicle for repairs to subject’s residence in 2009 and the subject sold the car January of this year. Christopher Michael Moore, age 29, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with theft by deception.
Jan. 20, answered a call to Quail Hollow in reference to a theft. A complainant stated taken from his residence was a 85 hp Johnson boat motor and a Dana rear end, for a Ford truck. Investigation continues.
Jan. 21 a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report credit card fraud. The complainant stated unknown person used his wife’s credit card twice in the month of December. Investigation continues.
Jan. 21 a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report damage to property. The complainant went to her ex-boyfriend’s house and he dragged her out of the house and damaged her car. The complainant was advised to see the magistrate judge.
