Rozzie S. Cook, 91, died Friday, May 20, 2011 at her son’s residence in Kathleen. Ms. Cook was a native of Pierce County and had resided in Baxley for 40 years. She was retired from Phillips Van Heusen and she was a homemaker. Ms. Cook was a member of Friendship Congregational Christian Church. Rozzie was preceded in death by her husband, Edgar N. Cook. She was the daughter of the late Robert and Alice Strickland Smiley.
Survivors include two sons, Robert Cook and wife, Dell of Kathleen and Edwin Allen Cook and wife, Lawanna of Brunswick; one sister, Mary Boyd of Savannah; four grandchildren, Lisa A. Bynum of Kathleen, Tracey A. Polleta of Rochester, NY, Allen Nathan Cook of Waynesville and Lacrissa Rae Davis of Oxnard, CA; four great-grandchildren, Allison Bynum, Noah Polleta, Justin Fowler and Rick Rigdon; and one great-great-grandchild, Trenton Rigdon.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, May 24 at Friendship Congregational Baptist Church with the Rev. Barry Teutsch officiating. Interment followed in Friendship Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Roger Smiley, Ashley Smiley, Nathan Hall, Eulie Boyd, Allen Cook and Reggie Smiley.
Honorary pallbearers were Gene Hall and Don Smiley.
Musical selections were rendered by Dell Cook.
Arrangements were under the direction of David E. Miles Funeral Home.
