Julia Lee White Cromartie, 71, of Baxley, was born Aug. 14, 1943 in Meeks, Johnson County to Cleveland and Emma White. She attended and was a 1962 graduate of Appling County Consolidated School in Baxley.
Ms. Cromartie departed this life on Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at the Appling Pavilion in Baxley.
Julia was preceded in death by her husband, Ledford A. Cromartie, Sr. and son, Kenneth Cromartie.
Survivors include a devoted companion of 29 years, Jerome Cash of Baxley; two sons, Ledford Cromartie, Jr. of Augusta and Terry Cromartie of Baxley; sister, Martha Ellen of Augusta and a special sister, Elaine Williams of Baxley; two brothers, Isiah White of Baxley and John White of Lexington, KY; special friends, Alice Cox and Lois Ann Lloyd and a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and many sorrowing friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18 at First African Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Kendall Bennamon gave the eulogy. Interment followed in Old Field Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were nephews.
Honorary pallbearers were staff of the Pavilion (B-Hall), staff of Comfort Care Hospice and the Class of 1962, Appling Consolidated High School.
Musical selections were rendered by Peggy Fletcher, Bert Ryals, Christine Sease and Carletha Wright.
