Melba Davis, delegate from Appling County, poses with Jason Carter, candidate for governor, at the Georgia Democratic Convention Saturday, August 9, at Dublin.
Carter told the crowded convention hall that Georgia needs to stop constant cuts to education. Twelve years of Republican rule have resulted in massive cuts to education while school enrollment has grown. “We’re eating our seed corn,” Carter told the packed auditorium. Other convention speakers emphasized the need to return ethics and honesty to state government.
