On August 3 at 10:00 a.m., Sunday morning, the Appling County Sheriff’s Office, received a report of a kidnapping. The complainant stated at approximately 2:00 a.m. a subject entered her residence and took her three-year-old juvenile. A lookout was put out on the subject and the vehicle. During entry, the suspect injured himself and was bleeding badly. Checking with local hospitals, Arunlfo Bernal Villafuerte had been treated at Coffee County Hospital. The Coffee County authorities were notified and located the subject and the vehicle in Douglas. Arnulfo Bernal Villafuerte, 27, of Baxley, was arrested and charged with kidnapping and burglary.Sheriff Benny Deloach would like to report the following activity of the Appling County Sheriff’s Office.
July 26, answered a call to Barn Hill Road in reference to a subject needing medical attention. Doors had to be broken to gain entry to victim. The victim was transported to Appling ER by Appling Co. EMS.
July 26, answered a call to Appling ER in reference to a three-year-old male falling out of a Mule side-by-side and receiving injuries. The child was flown out by AIR Evac to Savannah Memorial for further evaluation.
July 26, a routine traffic stop on Zoar Road led to the arrest of Patrick Condia Kelly, 31,of Graham. Kelly was charged with possession of marijuana, possession of drug related object, and possession of a firearm while trying to commit crimes.
July 27, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to an attempted suicide. The subject stated she had taken a bottle of pills and drank twelve Bud Lights and wanted to die. The subject was transported to Appling ER for evaluation.
July 27, answered a call to Appling ER in reference to a subject receiving injuries in a four-wheeler accident in Surrency. The subject was treated for injuries and then placed under arrest for DUI and driving while license are suspended.
July 27, answered a call to Hatch Parkway North in reference to trespassing. The complainant stated unknown subjects have been riding dirt bikes and four-wheelers on her land without permission. No trespassing signs are posted on the land.
July 28, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to a theft. A complainant stated her son’s two cell phones had been stolen. Investigation continues.
July 28, answered a call to Sycamore Road in reference to a burglary. A complainant stated unknown person(s) had gained entry to the residence by prying open the back door, and stealing valuable jewelry valued at approximately $5,000.00. Investigation continues.
July 28, answered a call to Red Dot Road in reference to a domestic. A girlfriend and a boyfriend had an argument and the girlfriend wanted to move from his residence. The boyfriend refused to let her have personal items. After responding the officer talked with both parties, the boyfriend agreed to let her leave with her personal items.
July 28, answered a call to Hatch Parkway South, which led to the arrest of George Christopher Griffin, 39, of Baxley. Griffin was charged with disorderly conduct.
