Dear Editor,
Every now and then, a young person is bitten with the bug that draws them to politics. I speak from experience, because many years ago, I was one of those young people.
“Keep a close eye on him”
Cameron Harrelson is a bright and energetic young man who was incredibly helpful to the new governor of Georgia in his successful campaign. When our campaign would ask him to take on a task, he responded promptly and performed with maturity and grace.
During her visits to Baxley, Cameron served as an ambassador for Georgia’s new first lady, Sandra Deal. He introduced her to many public officials, including your sheriff and others.
He made quite an impression on both Governor and Mrs. Deal and was deserving of their invitation to be a greeter and host at a private reception at the governor’s mansion on the day before the inauguration.
I’m proud to call this young man my friend and I hope the people of Appling County are proud to call him one of their own.
Keep a close eye on him and nurture him well. You just might be looking at one of your region’s, and even the state’s, future leaders.
