Excitement is in the air regarding beginning a new school year! Superintendent Dr. Scarlett Miles Copeland reported, “Appling County’s School Year is rapidly approaching and our district is ready! Administrator’s district wide spent the summer closing out the 13-14 school year, attending workshops and preparing for the 14-15 school year. All of these endeavors parallel our district wide vision which states, ‘Appling County Schools will be a school of excellence for all learners’.”
The school system reports that New Teacher Orientation begins Monday, July 28, at the Appling County Board of Education. The Preplanning System Wide Meeting for all staff members will be held on Tuesday, July 29 at the Fine Arts Center located at the High School. All staff members will be welcomed by First Baptist Church who will be serving breakfast in the lobby. The system wide meeting will begin at 8:00 a.m. with important updates being provided for the 14-15 school year.
Open House dates and times are listed on the system website and are as follows: July 31, 2014 ACMS from 1-3pm; ACHS Freshmen Orientation from 5-6pm. August 1, 2014 Altamaha K-5 from 1-3pm; Altamaha PreK Orientation from 2-3pm; ACPS K-2 from 2-4pm; ACPS PreK Orientation from 1:30-2pm; ACES from 2-4pm; Fourth District K-5 from 2-4pm; and Fourth District PreK Orientation from 2-2:30pm.
School supplies are also located under each respective school on the website and can also be located on the district website at http://www.appling.k12.ga.us . The school system invites everyone to view the website to find other important information as well.
The first day for school for PreKindergarten through twelfth grade is Monday, August 4. Superintendent Dr. Copeland added, “We are excited about the students return and look forward to serving them, their parents, and community this school year as we again, ‘Soar to New Heights’ in Appling County School System!”
