Jayne H. Johnson, 63, of Baxley, died suddenly at Memorial Health in Savannah. She was a native of Alamo but had lived in Baxley since 1978. Jayne was daughter of the late Robert Hill and Ellen Sanders Hill. She worked with Dr. Craig Padgett Veterinary in Hazlehurst the past 14 years.
Survivors include her husband of 33 years, Wendell Johnson of Baxley; daughter, Jamie Jones of Canton; two step sons, Marty Johnson (Julie) of Alma and Cameron Johnson (Priscilla) of Blackshear; a step daughter, Wendy Johnson of Alma; one brother, Gene Hill of Bainbridge; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, July 8, at 2:00 p.m. at New Vision Church with the Rev. Vic Peacock officiating. The body was carried to the church at 1:00 p.m. to lie in state. Interment followed in Alamo City Cemetery in Alamo.
The family received friends at the funeral home Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
Active pallbearers were Marty, Brandon, Cameron, Slade, Andy and Bodie Johnson and Ricky Justice. All others were considered honorary escorts.
Crosby Funeral Home in Alma was in charge of arrangements.
