Jewell Eason, 99, of Baxley died Tuesday, July 1, 2014. Mrs. Eason was born May 1, 1915 in Bleckley County to the late Wiley Lewis Barlow, Sr. and the late Lillie Crump Barlow. She was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 80 years where she was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. Mrs. Eason retired from the Appling County Board of Education and was a member of the Retired Educators.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Arthur Eason, Sr., and two sons, Thomas Timothy Eason and Thomas Arthur Eason, Jr.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Jewell Irene and Bobby Tuggle of Perry; three sons and daughters-in-law, William W. and Wanda Eason of Baxley, Harold B. and Dixie Eason of Blackshear and Daniel A. and Janet Eason of Gibsonville, N.C.; brother and sister-in-law, Wiley Lewis and Marilyn Barlow, Jr. of Waynesboro; ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 3 at 11:00 a.m. from the chapel of Swain Funeral Home. Interment followed in Omega Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Robert Wiley Eason, Thomas A. Eason III, Stephen Davidson, Robert Tuggle, III, Mitch Crosby and William Stealy Barlow.
Honorary pallbearers were Queen Esther Sunday School Class and all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by Claire Tanner.
Visitation was held one hour prior to funeral service.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
