Sheriff Benny Deloach reports that on June 9 the Appling County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Toombs County EMA asking for assistance reference a drowning on the Ohoopee River. Our volunteer dive team responded. Our divers were able to recover the body of a thirteen-year-old male. The search included Toombs, Tattnall, and Wayne and Appling County volunteers.
June 4, answered a call to Ben Carter Road in reference to a domestic dispute. A complainant stated her ex-boyfriend punched her in the face. The offender was not at the location the complainant stated incident occurred and was advised of legal action she could take.
June 6, a routine traffic stop on Tillman Road led to the arrest of William Dakota Harris, 20, of Waycross. Harris was charged with possession of marijuana-less-than an ounce.
June 6, answered a call to Golden Isles East/Surrency in reference to trespassing. The complainant stated an unwanted subject was on her property.
June 7, a complainant came to the sheriff’s office to report a theft that occurred on Zoar Road. The complainant stated someone entered his residence and stole his identification cards.
June 7, answered a call to Bill Morris Road in reference to assault/threats. The complainant stated a subject had made offensive move toward her with a machete and has made threats toward her. The complainant was advised of legal action to take.
June 7, answered a call to Highway 203 in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated while checking the property of a family member he found taken from the pack house was a garden tiller, push mower, and miscellaneous tools. Also forced entry was gained to the residence, but nothing appeared to missing at time of report. Investigation continues.
June 8, answered a call to South Main Street/Surrency in reference to damage to property. The landlord stated a tenant of his broke the screen to enter the residence.
June 8, answered a call to Carter’s Bight Landing in reference to trespassing. The complainant stated subjects had been driving on his property bogging down.
June 8, a routine traffic stop on Zoar Road led to the arrest of William Robert Kelly, 50, of Baxley. Kelly was charged with drugs to be kept in original container.
June 8, answered a call to Ten Mile Road in reference to a burglary. The complainant stated unknown subject (s) entered his residence and stole several PS3 games valued at $40.00 each. Investigation continues.
