Murle Teems Harrison, 75, died Saturday, January 15, 2011 at Appling Healthcare System. Mrs. Harrison was born Sept. 17, 1935 to the late Henry and Dorothy Teems. She was a native and lifelong resident of Baxley. Murle was retired from Southern Bell and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Harrison, two brothers, Alton and Larry Teems and a niece, Linda Gruber.
Survivors include three sisters, Jackie Stewart, Rose Easters and Mozell (George) Crosby, all of Baxley; one brother, Clinton Teems of Baxley; one step-son, Harold Harrison, Jr.; one step-daughter, Donna Gaylor, both of Atlanta and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Jan. 18 at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Ben DeFore officiating. Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Tommy Youmans, Winston Mincey, Richard Scarborough, Kenny Upchurch, Jerry Baxley, Michael Dennis, Tim Crosby and Shawn Shipes.
Honorary pallbearers were Asbury UMC Adult Sunday-School Classes, Dinah and Curtis Smith, Elanor Strickland, Evaline Peacock, Beth and Larry Atkinson, Mrs. Ophelia Reynolds, Engle Fay Sumner and Nell Bullard.
Musical selections were rendered by Debra Youmans, Deborah Johnson, Joseph Switzer and JoAnn Switzer.
Memorials may be made to Asbury United Methodist Church.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
