My brother, David, and niece, Elisha, were killed in a accident on February 17. This happened at the train tracks on Doris Street.
There are no arms at these railroad tracks and at other railroad tracks in the area. These tracks have stop signs. I have noticed that hardly anyone stops at the stop signs at the tracks. They just go through them and when people do the right thing and stop they get looks from the other drivers. It is a stop sign, it means to STOP. Now me personally, I stop at these stop signs and did so even before my brother and niece’s accident because I got a ticket because I didn’t stop.
I learned my lesson at that time. The police cannot be at these tracks all the time. I don’t know if it’s the city, county or state’s responsibility to put these arms at the tracks but they need to be put up.
Yes I know people might still go around them but these arms will help. Something has to be done or more people will die and this time it could be someone you care about.
