The Appling Christian Baseball team swept the Faith Baptist Crusaders to take the Georgia Christian Athletic Association Baseball Title. Daniel Beasley pitched a complete game one. Beasley yielded only one earned run while striking out eleven and only walking three Faith batters. The Eagles would perform well at the plate. The offensive leaders of game one were a pair of sophomores. Nathan Clough would put the Eagles on the board with a sixth inning two-run single. Two at bats later senior Reid Edwards would single and drive in fellow Senior Dylan Colson. Entering the final inning of play sophomore Bryant would add insurance runs with two RBIs. Phillips along with Daniel Beasley would lead game one in hits with two each. The final score of game one was five to one in favor of Appling Christian.
Senior Bryce Livingston took the mound for the Eagles for game two and his finally as the Eagles ace. Bryce’s last performance would prove to be one to remember. Pitching a complete game Bryce allowed only three hits and one run. The senior pitcher struck out ten and walked just one Crusader Batter. Livingston would provide excitement on offense as well with the series’ only homerun coming as a solo homer early in game two. The Eagles had ten hits in game two with the bulk of the RBIs coming again from a pair of sophomores. Bryant Phillips put the Eagles up early with a first inning two RBI single. Cole Livingston had three RBIs on a three run double in the fifth. Senior Dylan Colson would add an RBI of his own to complete the Eagles’ scoring in game two. The final score for game two was Eagles nine and Faith Baptist one.
This was an exciting title series. The Eagles had suffered only two region losses during the regular season and one of these losses came at the hands of Faith Baptist. The Eagles entered the GCAA play offs as the number two-seeded team behind Faith Baptist as the number one team from Region two. We are excited that our seniors would conclude their playing time at ACA in the same fashion they have played for the last three years. Bryce Livingston, Dylan Colson, and Reid Edwards have proven to be great leaders and we know they will continue to lead as they move forward.
