The annual Appling County Relay For Life event was held at the Appling County High School at the track located next to Jimmy Swain Stadium on Friday, May 2. This year’s event drew a large crowd of 35 teams with over 667 participants that helped to raise over $33,200.00.
The event kicked off at 6:00 p.m. with a Survivor Lap to celebrate those that have victory over cancer and was followed with a Caregiver Lap for friends and family of those with and has fought against cancer. Throughout the night live entertainment, food and fellowship was enjoyed while each team walked until the event closed at midnight.
Relay for Life is the signature fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and each year helps to raise over $400 million in donations.
