Appling Christian Eagles baseball team will advance to the State Finals in the Georgia Christian Athletic Association. The Eagles traveled to Douglasville to face the Kings Way Crusaders in the GCAA Semifinal round. The Eagles finished the regular season as the number two seed from region two. The Kings Way crusaders were the host team after finishing first in Region one season play. The series was a best two of three series but a third game was not necessary.
Game one is on Friday afternoon would see Senior Bryce Livingston on the mound for the Eagles. Livingston would go six innings giving up only two runs late in the game. Neither run was earned. Livingston would strike out twelve and walk only two. He did hit two batters. Junior Timothy sexton would come on in relief in the seventh inning and retire the first three batters in order with a strike out and a pair of ground outs.
Game one proved to be an offensive route for the Eagle who were able to knock the Crusader starter out of the game early with a high pitch count. The Eagles tallied fourteen hit over seven innings scoring nine runs. Junior Austin Carter lead in hits going three for four with two RBI. Senior Bryce Livingston would lead in RBI with the aid of a three run seventh inning homer.
Game two was Saturday morning at ten o’clock. Junior Daniel Beasley would start as the Eagles’ pitcher and go seven inning picking up his first playoff win this season. Daniel pitched seven strong inning allowing only four runs, none earned. Beasley struck out ten while walking only one he did hit two Crusader Batters.
In game two the Eagle showed great discipline at the plate. The Eagles posted nine hits and eight runs. Daniel Beasley was the hits leader in game two going three for three with two runs scored and one RBI. Sophomore Cole Livingston would lead in RBIs with three.
This Friday the Eagles will travel to Ludowici, GA to face region two opponent Faith Baptist. Faith finished first in the region two regular season. Faith defeated Open Bible Baptist in two games the past Friday to advance to the final round.
