Swain Funeral Home announces the death and funeral services of Albert Crosby, 78, of Baxley, who died Friday, April 25, 2014 in Appling HealthCare System. Albert was born April 5, 1936 to the late John Henry and Minnie Lee Crosby. He was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church. Crosby was a retired farmer.
Survivors include his spouse, Wilda Ann Crosby of Baxley; one daughter, Carol Waters of Alma; three sons, Henry Crosby, Wayne Crosby, both of Baxley and Richard Crosby of Hazlehurst; four sisters, Willene Crosby, Dorthy Carter, Betty Osteen and Emma Lee Deloach, all of Baxley; one brother, Robert Crosby; 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 27 from Hopewell United Methodist Church at 4:00 p.m. with the Rev. Buddy Coss, Rev. Tommy Davis, Rev. Bobby Brinkley and Rev. Brian Brazzell officiating. Interment followed in Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Saturday evening at the chapel of Swain Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Clint Waters, Trevor Crosby, Travis Crosby, Kaleb Crosby, Blake Weaver and Dillon Christopher.
Honorary pallbearers were H. M. Herndon, Roy Herrington, Mr. and Mrs. Mark Barnes, Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Jones, Ezra Varnadore, Lanier Branch, Pete Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Crosby, David Crosby, Dale Overstreet, Mike Smith, Terry Rentz, Johnny Copeland, Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Mincey, Robert Williams, the Rev. Jerry Rogers, Donald Harrelson, Robert Churchville, Aaron Branch, Jr., Floyd Hunter, Bro. Wayne Williamson and all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by the church choir.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
