Shirley Milton, 76, of Baxley, died Saturday, April 19, 2014 at her residence. Mrs. Milton was born June 4, 1937 in Tifton and was the daughter of the late Melvin Smith and the late Willie Fletcher Smith. She was a member of Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church where she was in the church choir, a Sunday School Teacher and a member of the WMU. She was a former member of the Baxley Jacetts and Baxley Pilot Club. She was co-owner of Weatherly and Son Insurance Agency.
Survivors include one son, Skip (Ginger) Milton of Surrency; her father Richard Blue of Baxley; one brother, Richard (Glenda) Blue, Jr. of Burlington NC; five grandchildren, Krisann Milton (Adrian) Atkinson of Baxley, Rick (Amy) Milton of Baxley, Brittany Milton (Daniel) Guerra of Baxley, Christina Milton of Baxley; five great grandchildren – Melana Atkinson, Kendra Leggett, Jared Leggett, Kaylei Atkinson, and Landen Milton.
Funeral services were Wednesday, April 23, from Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Tommy Daniels officiating.Interment followed in Ten Mile Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.Visitation was one hour prior to the funeral service at the church.
Active pallbearers were Harry Moody, Terry Moody, Joe Gardner, George Milton, Tommy Barry, and Robert Bartles.
Honorary pallbearers were the staff of DaVita of Baxley and Dr. William G. Grubb and staff at Marshes Medical.
Musical selections were rendered by the Rev. Tommy Daniels, Jeffery Spell and Kim Hall.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
