Miles-Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of Gary Dewayne “Boss Hogg” Miller,53, who passed away Friday, April 4, 2014 at his residence. He was a native of Appling County, a retired produce salesman and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Blackshear. He enjoyed speeding in his power chair and talking on his cellphone.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Lola Atkinson Miller; two sisters, Polly Cartee and Lucy Gibbs.
Survivors include two sisters, Sue Landon of Jesup and Sarah and Johnny Brown of Odum; five nieces and two nephews also survive.
Visitation was held Sunday afternoon from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held Sunday, April 6, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at the Miles-Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Tim Horne and the Reverend Carlton Rowell officiating. Interment followed in the Surrency City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Tony Rowell, Ernest Gibbs, Ernie Austin, Josh Austin, Dave McKay and Don Cuervo.
Honorary pallbearers were all of Dewayne’s friends and his nurses’ aides.
