The Appling County Board of Education (BOE) held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday, April 17 and approved the following personnel action, medical leave for Kelly Turner, hire Frankie Schott as school bookkeeper at Appling County Elementary School (ACES), resignations of Claudia Courson, Gayle Jones, Sandra Rooks, Debra Youmans, Ann Smith, Jane Causey, and Brittany Beckworth.
The BOE opened the following positions, two teachers at Altamaha Elementary School (AES), two paraprofessionals at ACES, two teachers at Appling County Primary School (ACPS), three paraprofessionals at ACPS and one teacher at Appling County High School.
The BOE approved changing the school nutrition signature cards to have Ellen Carter and Melissa Johnson added and remove Peggy Taylor. They also requested the account number be changed to prevent any unauthorized activity.
A field trip request by AES to visit Jacksonville Zoo was approved.
The board minutes from January 16, February 10, Feburary 18 and February 25 were approved.
The financial report from February and the proposed textbook budget for FY 2015 were approved.
Meeting on March 10
A motion was made and unanimously approved to hire Cindy Stewart as ACPS Principal for the 2014-2015 school year and approved the opening of an assistant principal position at ACPS was approved unanimously.
