Ledley Baxley passed away Saturday, March 8, at Appling Healthcare System. Baxley, 89, was a native of Appling County, the son of Wilton and Marjie Baxley. He is survived by his son, Michael (Bo) Baxley of Baxley; one sister, Sue Nell Lawson of Jacksonville, Florida; and three grandchildren; Michael Jon Baxley, Brandy Baxley Deloach and Jason Wilson Baxley, all of Baxley. He is preceded in death by his wife, Marjorie Haynes Baxley.
Baxley was a veteran of the United States Army and served in the Korean War. He was a member of First Baptist Church and a member of the Young Farmers.
Funeral services were held Monday, March 10 at 3:00 p.m. from the chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Wayne Williamson, the Rev. Bill Stone and the Rev. Keith Alderman, officiating. Interment followed in Baxley Grave Yard Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Donnie Baxley, Pete Martin, Eldon Baxley, Wade Moody, David Brantley and Tommy Atkins.
Honorary pallbearers were the Fisherman Sunday School Class at First Baptist Church, staff of the Pavilion, C-Hall, Bill Branch, Dave Sellers, James Clark, and Paschol Pearce.
Visitation was Sunday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Swain Funeral Home.
Musical selections were rendered by Floyd Hunter and David Williams.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
