Miles-Nobles Funeral Home announces the services of Freda Newell, 74, who passed away on February 12, 2014 at her home in Jacksonville after battling cancer for almost three years. She was born in Baxley and was one of five children.
Her siblings, two brothers (Darwin Music and James Carlos Herndon) and two sisters (Earline Branch and Myrtle Thomas), preceded her in death.

She loved animals, especially her pet cat and dogs. She was a humanitarian. Her compassion for people had no boundaries. She volunteered at the Senior Center in Jacksonville to help the elderly and loved to entertain children. She was generous, contributing to charitable organizations and always willing to help those in need.
She worked many jobs in her lifetime but the most important and rewarding job she devoted her heart and soul to was being a Mom. A loving mother of three, she leaves behind two sons, Rodney E. Newell, II and Kim Newell, and a daughter, Karla G. Newell. She also leaves behind two beautiful grandchildren, Amie T. Newell and Rodney E. Newell, III.
