At a meeting of the Baxley-Appling County Hospital Authority, held February 24, members voted unanimously to install Ray Leadbetter as the Interim Chief Executive Officer. During this time Leadbetter will continue to be responsible for the duties of Chief Financial Officer as well. It was also noted that the Recruitment and Retention Committee of the Hospital Authority has begun the search for a permanent Chief Executive Officer.
It was reported that the health care system came through two ice storms with no serious interruptions in services.
A report was presented regarding the system’s participation in a statewide tornado drill held on February 7. K’leb Eason is the Safety Officer for the system and he oversaw the system’s participation in the drill. One area of need identified during the drill was that the health care system needed to have additional radio channels in the case of a real emergency. It was reported that these measures would be discussed at an upcoming monthly safety meeting.
Reports on long-term care and operations/nursing were presented for review to all members.
Minutes and financial reports were presented and approved.
Authority members entered into an executive session to discuss items of an exempt nature. No action was reported taken following the session.
