Miles-Nobles Funeral Home announces the services of Mr. Marvin J. O’Berry, Sr., 82, who passed away Wednesday, February 19, 2014, at Lumber City Nursing and Rehab. He was a native of Appling County; a United States Army Veteran serving in the Korean War in which he earned two bronze stars for the service to his country; a retired machinist with Eastern Airlines and a member of the Lumber City Church of God.
He is survived by his wife, Mary O’Berry of Hazlehurst; four children, Jeanette and husband, Bobby Glenn, of Tifton, Barbara Slowinski of Winder, Marvin James O’Berry, Jr. of Hogansville and David and wife, Lisa O’Berry, of Baxley; fourteen grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; one brother, Wade O’Berry, of Kingsland and other family also survive.
Visitation was held Thursday, February 20 from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral services were held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 21 from Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with the Reverend Barry Teutsch officiating.Interment followed in Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery with military honors.
