Miles Funeral Home in Hazlehurst announces the funeral service for Loys Peacock, Jr., 64, of Denton, who passed away at his residence Friday, January 31, 2014. Services were held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the Miles Funeral Home Chapel. The Reverends Alvin Merritt, Van McCall, Darrell Barlow officiated with burial following in Denton Cemetery.
Peacock was born in Alma and was the son of the late Loys Peacock, Sr. and Lillie Bell Smith Peacock and was the husband of late Betty Jane Dupree Peacock. A brother, Billy Peacock, preceded him in death.
He was a retired logger and was the mayor of Denton for many years.
Survivors include sons and daughters-in-law, William Loys (W.L.) Peacock and Mary, Robert Louis (Robbie) Peacock and Angela; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra (Denise) Peacock Gravitt and Wayne; grandchildren, Robert Joshua Peacock, Loy Renee Peacock Corbitt, Lilly Michelle Peacock, Sarah Ann Peacock and Colby Louis Peacock; one great-grandchild, Elaina Rayne Corbitt; and two sisters, Helen Crummey and Brenda Murray also survive.
Active pallbearers were Wayne Gravitt, Oral Shumans, David Powell, Scott Taylor, Paul Bennett and Ronald Atkinson.
Music was rendered by Angie McCall.
