Miles-Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of Richard Kenneth Sears, 72, who passed away Monday, January 6, 2014 at his residence under the care of Southern Care Hospice. He was a native of Tavares, FL and had lived in Appling County for the past 17 years. He was a retired Sargent Major in the United States Army serving in Vietnam and the Dominican Republic. He was a member of the Holmesville Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Sears of Baxley; two daughters, Tammy Lynn and Martin Wheeler of Virginia and Tracey Ann and Patrick Smith of Virginia; three grandchildren, Jonathan Ford of Summerville, S.C., Lucas Smith of Virginia and Hayley Smith of Virginia; one great-grandson, Chace Ford of Summerville S.C.; three sisters, Ora and Nick Grimes of Baxley, Cordella and Gene Laroe of Eustis, FL and Elva Farrell of Sarasota, FL; two brothers, Donald and Eileen Sears of Baxley and James and Linda Sears of Umatilla, FL; several nieces, nephews and other family also survive.
Memorial services were held Friday, January 10 at 2:00 p.m. at Miles-Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with Donald Sears officiating with full Masonic Rights.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Southern Care Hospice at 2311 East First Street, Suite B, Vidalia, GA 30474.
