Swain Funeral Home announces the death and funeral services of Louis Leonard Forehand, Jr., 82, of Baxley, who died Monday, December 23, 2013, in the Appling Healthcare System.
Forehand was born March 18, 1931, and resided in Appling County most of his life. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Hilton Forehand and a brother, Fletcher Forehand. He was a veteran of the United States Army, was retired from Bax-Steel and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Forehand; daughters, Dianne (Ed) Williams and Sheila (Randy) Alexander; sons, Curtis (Janet) Forehand and Randy Forehand; sister, Joy (Charles) Patterson; brothers, Jimmy Forehand and Pete Forehand; eight grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Friday, December 27, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Swain Funeral Home with the Rev. Rick Brown officiating. Interment followed in Omega Cemetery.
Visitation was held Thursday, December 26, 2013, 6:00-8:00 p.m., at Swain Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Edwin Williams, Jason Williams, Stephen Hardwick, Tony Forehand, Jeremy Forehand, and Timmy McGuirt.
Honorary pallbearers were Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Thomas, Ricky White, John Corey, Herman Shuman, Aaron Lightsey, Vance Faircloth, Roy Nails, and the C-Hall staff of The Pavilion.
Musicians were Stephanie and Steven Allen, Jeannie Spell and Alan Johnson.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
