Mary Levenia Doke, 86, of Baxley, died Thursday, November 21, 2013 at Appling Healthcare System.
Mrs. Doke was born June 26, 1927 in Appling County and was the daughter of the late Willie Clifton Courson and the late Fannie Almira Altman Courson. She was a member of Hopewell United Methodist Church where she served in the Women’s Club. Mrs. Doke was preceded in death by her husband, Carl A. Doke, three sisters- Jimmie Lou Lynch, Willie Mae Webb and Merle Head.
Survivors include her daughter and son in law, Lucy and Dale Overstreet of Baxley; grandchildren, Nicholas and Jennifer Overstreet of Alma and Jessica and Ray Dixon of Baxley; four great grandchildren, Knox Overstreet, Maddox Overstreet, Ashton Dixon and Jed Dixon; one sister, Odessa Skipper of Baxley; including several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services were held Saturday, November 23 at 11:00 a.m. from Hopewell United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles Coss and the Rev. Creig Smith officiating.
Interment followed in the church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Wayne Doke, Charles Maxwell, Jerry Wilkerson, Ricky Branch, Randy Branch and Roger Branch.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Hopewell United Methodist Women’s Club.
Visitation was one hour prior to funeral service at the church.
Musical selections were rendered by Peggy McDaniel and Gloria Coss.
Funeral arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
