Miles-Nobles Funeral Home announces the death of Grady William Griffin, who passed away Thursday, October 24, 2013 at Appling Healthcare System under the care of Spanish Oaks Hospice. He was a native and lifelong resident of Appling County. He was a retired logger, a United States Army Veteran of the Korean War, a farmer and a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
Griffin was preceded in death by his wife, Bonice Griffin; parents, Grady and Minnie Griffin; a daughter in-law, Shirley Griffin and two brothers, Wilber Griffin and J.W. Griffin.
Survivors include two children, Kenny Griffin and wife, Rhonda, of Baxley and Glenn Griffin of Bacon County; one sister, Myrtle Nail and husband, Roy; one brother, Charles Griffin; two sisters in-law, Peggy Griffin and Peggy Miles; one brother in-law, Bennie Cothern and wife, Faye; six grandchildren, Randy and Shauna Rowell, Joe Holton, Brad and Renee Thompson, Jason Griffin, Dee Ann and Jon Pryor and Curt Griffin; eight great grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.
Visitation was held Friday, October 25 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. from the funeral home.
Funeral Services were held Saturday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. from the Miles-Nobles Funeral Home Chapel with the Reverend Bobby Brinkley and the Reverend Kenyon Fennell officiating.
Active pallbearers were Curt Griffin, Russell Griffin, Donnie Griffin, Jason Griffin, Joe Holton and Randy Griffin.
Honorary pallbearers were Pleasant Grove Baptist Church members, the Pavilion staff and Spanish Oaks Hospice staff.
