Vivian Joyce Fales, 72, died Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at her residence. Mrs. Fales was born on Feb. 14, 1941 in Hartsville, South Carolina to the late Cohen Atkinson and the late Pearl Wallace Atkinson. She was a member of Clyde Church of God. Vivian Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph H. Fales and four brothers and four sisters.
Survivors include five daughters, Joyce Marie Creamer, Lynn Hesters, Tonda Norton, all of Baxley, Kim Hesters of Hazlehurst and April Wolfe of Baxley; two sons, Earl Fales of Hazlehurst and Shawn Fales of Baxley; one sister, Margie Byrd of Hartsville, S.C.; one brother, Ray Atkinson of Hartsville, S.C.; twenty-nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
The body was carried to the home on 385 Buckhorn Road, Friday, Sept. 13 at 3:00 p.m. The body was then moved to the Asbury United Methodist Church on Saturday to lie in state from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour.
Funeral services were held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14 at Asbury United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry McKinnon officiating. Interment followed in church cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Andy Atkinson, James Roach, Bunkey Hesters, Roy Wigley, Ronnie Hesters and Kelvin Wilcox.
Honorary pallbearers were all friends in attendance.
Musical selections were rendered by Rev. Jerry McKinnon.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
