Edgar Russell (Bo) Herndon, Jr., 60, died September 6, 2013 at 569 Alpine Drive in Baxley. Bo was born Feb. 13, 1953 to the late Edgar R. Herndon, Sr. and the late Deloris Courson Herndon. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Cheryl Ann Morris Herndon. He was a member of Mount Vernon Baptist Church and was employed by Akzo Nobel as maintenance supervisor and was former Chief of Police for the City of Baxley.
Survivors include spouse Leigh Herndon of Baxley; four daughters, Heather Ann Herndon, Ashley Ann Herndon, Whitney Lara (Christopher Leroy) Mincey and Keaton Leah Herndon, all of Baxley; one son, Russell Eugene (Lori Michelle) Herndon of Surrency; five sisters, LaWanda Ann Herndon, LaVanda Ann Carter, LaBronda Ann Merritt, LaRonda Ann Davis and LaSonda Ann Cauley, all of Baxley. Two grandchildren, Hayden Gwendolyn Upchurch and Dakota Ashilynn Mincey and a host of nieces and nephews, also survive him.
Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9 at Mount Vernon Baptist Church with the Rev. Darrell Quinn and Elder Jerry Lightsey officiating. Interment followed in Big Creek Cemetery in Screven.
Active pallbearers were Justin Hall, Kim Stone, Willie Rogers, Brian Matthews, J. K. Perry, Ricky Herndon and Jeff Duvall.
Honorary pallbearers were Donnie and Randi Thornton, Charles and Sandra Morris, Randall and Janice Sellers, Keith and Janda Morris, Bill and Vickie Baker and Charles Ray and Becky Stipe.
Musical selections were rendered by Rick Herndon, Ann Herndon and Angela Morris.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
