The Appling County Health Department will hold a flu vaccine clinic Sept. 18, from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Residents are urged to come during the clinic hours to get vaccinated because extra staff will be on hand and the wait should be minimal. The flu vaccine costs $25.00.
Any person six months old or older should get vaccinated. Because it can take two weeks to develop full immunity after receiving the flu vaccine, Public Health officials urge residents to get vaccinated now.
Children six months to nine years old receiving the flu vaccine who did not receive flu vaccine last year will need a follow-up booster one month after receiving the first flu vaccine.
