Miles Funeral Home in Hazlehurst announces the funeral service for Mary Poe “Marmee” Thatcher, 66, of Hazlehurst, who passed away Monday, August 26, 2013. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Miles Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Wigley and Rev. J. Barry Owens officiated with burial following in Palms Memorial Garden.
Mrs. Thatcher was born in Appling County and she was the daughter of the late Linton Joseph Poe and Mattie Lou Davis Poe and the wife of the late H. William Thatcher.
Mrs. Thatcher was a secretary for Pro Air. She was an avid reader and also enjoyed painting, cooking, crafts and gardening. Mrs. Thatcher attended the Hazlehurst Church of God.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Lou Collins.
Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Autumn and Jeffrey Correnti of North Carolina; a son, Chris Thatcher of Hazlehurst; three sisters, Jeannie Carter, Joe Ann Wilcox, both of Hazlehurst and Connie McDaniel of Baxley; two brothers, Joel Poe, Sr. and Junior McDaniel, both of Hazlehurst; three grandchildren, Loni Thatcher, Joseph Correnti and Giadi Correnti; and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Active pallbearers were Kerry Harrison, Ryan Crosby, Herman Sellers, Steve Swinson, Joel Poe, Jr. and Britt Marchant.
Musical selections were rendered by Terry Hesters, Monica Turner and Heather Stodghill.
Miles Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
