Joe Frank Eason, Sr., 78, of Waycross, died Tuesday morning at his residence after a brief illness. He was born in Appling County to the late Abraham Ottis Eason and Hannah Rose Bell Eason.Eason was a veteran of the United States Navy. Honorably discharged from the Navy, Eason worked a brief period of time for Civil Service before moving to Waycross and beginning work for CSX Railroad. He worked for CSX for thirty-seven years as a conductor before his retirement in 1995. Eason was a friend to many, never meeting a stranger and loved to visit and tell stories. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and skilled carpenter. More than anything he loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters, Flora Eason, Mary Beth Mollic, Donald Eason, Hale Eason and Paul Eason.
