Bonnie Brannen McConnell, 71, of Martinsville,IN, passed from this life at 10:40 a.m. at her home on Sunday, August 11, 2013 in the love and comfort of her loving family. Bonnie was born in Surrency on Oct. 4, 1941 to the late Joe Coady and Bernice Faithy (Tyre) Brannen. She spent her childhood and early adulthood in Georgia before moving to Martinsville, Indiana in the mid 1970s. She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Roger D. Brannen.
On June 9, 2002 she married Robert P. McConnell; he survives in Martinsville.
Bonnie retired from Harman Becker in Martinsville after several years as a tool crib operator and had previously worked at Arvin Automotive in Franklin. She attended the Martinsville First Church of God was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother. Bonnie had a love for gardening, reading, shopping, fishing, and most importantly, her grandchildren. She cherished time spent with her family, loved her kitty cat, Sam and dog, Ginger.
She will be deeply missed and always remembered by her family and friends including her husband, Robert; a son, Victor T. Davis (wife, Tammy) of Mooresville, IN; two daughters, Rita J. Strieby (husband, Rocky) of Martinsville, IN and Carole S. Baxter (husband, Michael A.) of Indianapolis, IN;two sisters, Judy Gilenwater (husband, Kenny) of Martinsville, IN and Melba Rentz (husband, James) of Baxley; two stepsons, Robert J. McConnell (wife, Susie) of Indianapolis, IN and Phillip D. McConnell (wife, Angie) of Clayton, IN; a stepdaughter, Rindy Ruth (husband, John) of Colorado; five grandchildren, Dustin T. Davis, (wife, Stephanie), Brandon L. Davis (wife, Amanda), Amarida J. Baxter, Danell N. Strieby-Stout (husband, Matt) and Michael B. Goshen; four great-grandchildren, Noah T. Davis, Mara A. Steward, Maggie E. and Hunter D. Stout; and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation with family and friends was held Wednesday, Aug. 14 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday, Aug. 15 from 12:00 p.m.-1:00 p.m. at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center in Martinsville, Indiana.
The Rev. Delbert Cotrell officiated the funeral services celebrating Bonnie’s life Thursday, Aug. 15 at the funeral home and burial followed in Nebo Memorial Park Cemetery in Martinsville, IN. Online condolences and memories may be shared with her family at www.nealandsummers.com.
