Carlton Donald Jackson, 78, died July 20, 2013 in the Genesis Health Care System. Jackson was born Nov. 11, 1934 to the late Lewis and Nancy Jackson. He was a lifelong resident of Appling County and a member of Zoar Baptist Church. Jackson was a security guard at the Georgia State Prison in Odum. He also proudly served the United States of America in the National Guard. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Connie Stark, a sister, Betty Lightsey and three brothers, L.W., Andrew and Bruce Jackson.
Survivors include one daughter, Pamela L. Jackson of Moultrie; one son, Sidney (Shirlene) Jackson of Baxley; two sisters, Wynell (Theron) Herrington of Baxley and Jenny (Delton) Drawdy of Waycross; one brother, Robert (Ollie Mae) Jackson of Baxley; and one sister-in-law, Mildred Jackson. He is also survived by five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and sixteen nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 4:00 p.m. Monday, July 22 at Swain Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. J. F. Blanton officiating. Interment followed in Zoar Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jimmy Jackson, Eddie Jackson, Lonnie Lightsey, Nathaniel Linn, Lambert Lightsey and Travis Lightsey.
Musical selections were rendered by Nancy Gill and Susan Lariscy.
Arrangements were under the direction of Swain Funeral Home.
