The American Cancer Society will launch a Day For Hope campaign on August 23 in five South Georgia counties, with Society volunteers standing at highway intersections with purple buckets seeking donations for the fight against cancer. Donation sites with the purple buckets will also be set up at supporting local businesses in the five counties of Appling, Emanuel, Bulloch, Candler and Toombs.
“The event symbolizes the American Cancer Society’s tireless fight against cancer and the fact that the Society fights every cancer, every day, in every community,” says Jonathan Mccollar, the Society’s Senior Community Manager.
“We’re excited to have volunteers and businesses throughout the five counties helping to raise awareness and funds for the fight against cancer. We urge residents of the five counties to help support the Day For Hope campaign and the movement to create a world with less cancer and more birthdays for everyone.”
The Day For Hope event will be conducted in shifts on August 23, from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., then from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. The event will benefit Relay For Life in the five counties.
